INTRODUCTION ABOUT EUREPA V 0.5/0.3MG TABLET

EUREPA V 0.5/0.3MG TABLET is a combination of Repaglinide and Voglibose which belongs to the group of medicines called Anti-diabetic agents. EUREPA V 0.5/0.3MG TABLET is used as an adjunct (to diet and exercise) to manage type 2 Diabetes Mellitus in patients to help control blood sugar level.           

EUREPA V 0.5/0.3MG TABLET is not recommended for use in patients allergic to Repaglinide, and/or Voglibose. It is also not recommended for use in patients with type 1 diabetes, diabetic ketoacidosis (serious complication of diabetes), severe infection (before/after an operation), gastrointestinal obstruction (bowel obstruction), and/or moderate to severe liver disease.

Before taking EUREPA V 0.5/0.3MG TABLET, inform your doctor if you are scheduled for a major surgery, and/or have severe illness, fever, trauma, infection, chronic intestinal disease, kidney problems (such as mild/moderate/severe renal impairment).

EUREPA V 0.5/0.3MG TABLET is generally not recommended for use during pregnancy and in women planning for pregnancy. It is also not recommended for use in breastfeeding women.

EUREPA V 0.5/0.3MG TABLET is not indicated for use in children & adolescents (aged below 18 years) and in elders (aged above 75 years). Consult and inform your doctor before taking the medicine.

The most common side effects of taking EUREPA V 0.5/0.3MG TABLET are hypoglycaemia (low blood sugar), abdominal pain/discomfort, diarrhoea, headache, fever, muscle pain, and/or tenderness. Consult and inform your doctor if any of these symptoms worsen.


USES OF EUREPA V 0.5/0.3MG TABLET

  • Adjunct to diet and exercise to manage type-2 diabetes mellitus in affected individuals

HOW EUREPA V 0.5/0.3MG TABLET WORKS

EUREPA V 0.5/0.3MG TABLET is a combination of Repaglinide and Voglibose where Repaglinide increases the amount of insulin released by the pancreas and Voglibose inhibits the action of α-glucosidase (an intestinal enzyme responsible for breaking down complex sugars into simple sugars) which results in lowering the blood glucose level and thus helps to manage type-2 diabetes mellitus in affected individuals.   


DIRECTIONS FOR USE

Take EUREPA V 0.5/0.3MG TABLET as advised by your physician. Swallow EUREPA V 0.5/0.3MG TABLET with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew the medicine. Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration for you depending upon your age, body weight and disease condition.


SIDE EFFECTS OF EUREPA V 0.5/0.3MG TABLET

COMMON

  • signs of hypoglycaemia (low blood sugar) such as rapid heart rate, shaking, sweating
  • abdominal pain/discomfort, diarrhoea
  • signs of gastritis (inflammation of stomach) such as upper abdomen pain, nausea, vomiting
  • swelling of face/arms/legs
  • headache, fever
  • sore throat
  • sinusitis (sinus inflammation)
  • signs of hypertriglyceridaemia (high level of fat blood) such as stomach pain, confusion, and/or memory loss
  • muscle pain and tenderness
  • periarthritis (swelling around joints)

RARE

  • acute coronary syndrome
  • anaemia
  • thrombocytopenia (low platelet level)
  • leucopoenia (low level of white blood cells in blood)

Stop taking this medicine and contact your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following side effects:

  • signs of an anaphylactic reaction (life-threatening allergic reaction) such as swelling, difficulty in breathing, rapid heartbeat, feeling dizzy, and/or sweating
  • signs of hypersensitivity reaction of skin such as erythema, itching, rashes, and/or itchy welts


HOW TO MANAGE SIDE EFFECTS

Diarrhea

Drink plenty of water and stay hydrated. Try to avoid taking any medicine on your own to manage diarrhea. Consult and inform your doctor if the symptom worsens.

Headache

If EUREPA V 0.5/0.3MG TABLET causes headache, then take rest and drink plenty of fluids. Try to avoid drinking alcohol. Ask your doctor to recommend a painkiller. Headaches should usually go away after the first week of taking EUREPA V 0.5/0.3MG TABLET. If it lasts more than a week or severe, inform your doctor.

PREGNANCY

BREASTFEEDING

EUREPA V 0.5/0.3MG TABLET is generally not recommended for use in breastfeeding women. Consult and inform your doctor before taking EUREPA V 0.5/0.3MG TABLET.

DRIVING AND USING MACHINES

Use with Caution

Do not drive or operate machines if you experience signs of high/low blood sugar since it can endanger you/others.

ALCOHOL

Consult your doctor

Avoid consumption of alcohol while taking EUREPA V 0.5/0.3MG TABLET since it may alter the effect of the medicine.

KIDNEY

Use with Caution

EUREPA V 0.5/0.3MG TABLET should be used with caution in patients with kidney problems such as mild, moderate/severe renal impairment and in patients who are undergoing dialysis. Consult and inform your doctor before taking the medicine.

LIVER

Contraindicated

EUREPA V 0.5/0.3MG TABLET is not recommended for use in patients with moderate to severe liver disease. Consult and inform your doctor before taking the medicine.

ALLERGY

Contraindicated

Do not take EUREPA V 0.5/0.3MG TABLET if you are allergic to Repaglinide, Voglibose, and/or any other ingredients of this medicine.

USE IN PEDIATRICS

Contraindicated

EUREPA V 0.5/0.3MG TABLET is not recommended for use in children and adolescents (aged below 18 years). Consult and inform your doctor before taking EUREPA V 0.5/0.3MG TABLET.

USE IN GERIATRICS

Contraindicated

EUREPA V 0.5/0.3MG TABLET is not recommended for use in elderly patients (aged above 75 years). Consult and inform your doctor before taking EUREPA V 0.5/0.3MG TABLET.

OTHERS

EUREPA V 0.5/0.3MG TABLET is not recommended for use if you:

  • suffer from type 1 diabetes, and/or diabetic ketoacidosis (serious complication of diabetes) associated with/without coma
  • suffer from severe infection before/after an operation
  • have gastrointestinal obstruction (bowel obstruction)

Before taking EUREPA V 0.5/0.3MG TABLET, inform your doctor if you:

  • are scheduled for a major surgery
  • have recently suffered a severe illness
  • are suffering from fever, trauma, and/or infection
  • have a history of laparotomy (surgical incision done into an abdominal cavity for a major surgery)/ileus (condition marked by impaired bowel function)
  • suffer from chronic intestinal disease (accompanied by disturbance in digestion and absorption)


INTERACTIONS

A. Drug-Drug interactions:

Before taking EUREPA V 0.5/0.3MG TABLET, inform your doctor if you are taking any of the following medicine:

  • gemfibrozil (medicine used to lower increased fat levels in the blood)
  • monoamine oxidase inhibitors (used to manage depression) Ex. phenelzine, selegiline
  • beta blockers (used to manage high blood pressure or heart conditions) Ex. acebutolol, atenolol
  • ACE-inhibitors (used to manage heart conditions) Ex. benazepril, captopril
  • salicylates (medicines used to reduce pain, fever and inflammation) Ex. aspirin
  • octreotide (used to manage cancer)
  • nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (medicines used to reduce fever and pain) Ex. ibuprofen, naproxen
  • steroids (used to manage inflammation) Ex. prednisolone, fluticasone
  • oral contraceptives (used to manage pregnancy) Ex. desogestrel and ethinyl estradiol
  • thiazides (used to manage high blood pressure) Ex. chlorothiazide, chlorthalidone
  • danazol (used to manage breast cysts and endometriosis)
  • thyroid products (used to manage low levels of thyroid hormones)
  • sympathomimetics (used to manage asthma) Ex. salbutamol, terbutaline
  • clarithromycin, trimethoprim, rifampicin (antibiotics used to manage bacterial infections)
  • itraconazole, ketoconazole (medicines used to manage fungal infections)
  • ciclosporin (used to manage rejection of transplanted organ)
  • deferasirox (used to reduce chronic iron overload)
  • clopidogrel (prevents blood clots)
  • phenytoin, carbamazepine, phenobarbital (used to manage epilepsy)
  • St. john’s wort (herbal medicine)

Overdosage:

If you or anyone else accidentally take too much of EUREPA V 0.5/0.3MG TABLET, consult and inform your doctor immediately or visit the nearby hospital. Symptoms of overdose are hypoglycaemia with associated signs such as dizziness, sweating, tremor, headache, loss of consciousness, seizure, and/or coma.
