INTRODUCTION ABOUT AZUKON M TABLET

AZUKON M TABLET is used in the management of diabetes mellitus when dietary measures, physical exercise, and weight loss alone are not sufficient to control blood glucose. It is a combination of Gliclazide and Metformin which belongs to the group of medicines called Antidiabetic agents.

AZUKON M TABLET is not recommended for use if you have chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, kidney disease, or liver failure. The use of AZUKON M TABLET is not recommended for use in pregnant women. It is not known whether the medicine or its metabolites are excreted in breast milk. Hence consult your doctor before taking the medicine. AZUKON M TABLET is not recommended for use in children as safety and effectiveness have not been established.  

The most common side effects are nausea, diarrhea, gastric pain, constipation, vomiting, metallic taste in the mouth, rash, pruritus, urticaria, erythema, and flushing. Consult your doctor if any of the side effects worsen.

• Used to manage type II diabetes mellitus

HOW AZUKON M TABLET WORKS

AZUKON M TABLET effectively controls blood glucose levels, where Gliclazide works by increasing the amount of insulin by stimulating the pancreas and helps to control blood glucose levels. Metformin works by decreasing the production of glucose in the liver, decreasing the intestinal absorption of glucose, increasing insulin sensitivity, and allowing better glucose uptake and utilization by the body.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE

• Take AZUKON M TABLET, preferably just before meals, during meals, or as advised by your physician
• Swallow the medicine with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew the medicine
• Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration of therapy for you depending on your age, body weight, and disease condition

DRIVING AND USING MACHINES

Use with Caution

Do not drive or operate any machinery if you have increased sweating, a fast heartbeat, vision disorders or difficulty in concentration, dizziness, weakness, or blurred vision after taking AZUKON M TABLET.

ALCOHOL

Consult your doctor

Avoid consumption of alcohol while taking AZUKON M TABLET, as it may increase the risk of unwanted side effects.

KIDNEY

Contraindicated

AZUKON M TABLET is not recommended for use if you have kidney disease.

LIVER

Contraindicated

AZUKON M TABLET is not recommended for use if you have liver failure.

ALLERGY

Contraindicated

Do not take AZUKON M TABLET if you are allergic to Gliclazide, Metformin, or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.

LUNGS

HEART DISEASE

AZUKON M TABLET is not recommended for use if you have coronary heart disease, cardiac failure, or peripheral vascular disease.

USE IN GERIATRICS

Use with Caution

AZUKON M TABLET should be used with caution only in elderly patients with normal kidney function.

INTERACTIONS

A. Drug-Drug interactions:

Before taking AZUKON M TABLET, inform your doctor if you are taking any of the following medicines, such as:

• Angiotensin enzyme inhibitors (Ex. captopril, enalapril)
• Antidiabetic agents (Ex. insulin, acarbose)
• Beta-blockers (Ex. metoprolol)
• Antifungal (Ex. Fluconazole)
• H2 blockers (Ex. cimetidine)
• Monoamine 2 oxidase inhibitors (Ex. selegiline)
• Sulphonamides (Ex. sulfasalazine)
• Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory agents (Ex. ibuprofen)
• Estrogens or oral contraceptives (Ex. estradiol, levonorgestrel)
• Anticonvulsants (Ex. Phenytoin)
• Quinolones (Ex. ciprofloxacin)

Overdosage:

If you or anyone else accidentally took more of AZUKON M TABLET, consult your doctor immediately or visit the nearby hospital. Overdosage may cause low blood sugar (hypoglycemia), and symptoms include dizziness, lightheadedness, hunger, nervousness, shaky feelings, drowsiness, confusion, perspiration, and palpitations.

Disease description:
